Army soldier attacked, two cops manhandled in road rage incident, five held
A First Information Report was registered by Suraj Ransingh (32), an Army soldier who was on duty at the time of the incident and was heading back to his Army formation after doing an assigned task at the Pune airport area.

A 32-YEAR-OLD Army soldier was attacked by five persons including a woman who also tried to rob his silver chain during a road rage incident in Yerawada. The assailants also manhandled two on duty policemen who reached the location during their patrolling round. Police arrested the five suspects.
The incident took place around 7.20 am on August 30 near Jail Road Police Chowky of Yerawada police station. A First Information Report was registered by Suraj Ransingh (32), an Army soldier who was on duty at the time of the incident and was heading back to his Army formation after doing an assigned task at the Pune airport area.
“When the complainant was riding his bike on the road in front of the Jail Road Police Chowky, five suspects who were on two bikes went past him riding recklessly at a high speed. The complainant objected and questioned them why they were riding that way. The two bikes subsequently blocked the complainant’s way. They tried to snatch the complainant’s cell phone and silver chain. As the complainant resisted, the suspects attacked him and started beating him. They threatened to file an eve teasing complaint against him and threatened to kill him.” said an officer from Yerawada police station.
At this point, two police beat marshals who were on a routine patrolling round, came to the location. As they tried to intervene, the suspects manhandled the two cops as well and verbally abused them. Later during the day, a complaint was registered at Yerawada police station. Five suspects were identified and arrested. The arrested suspects were identified as Dnyaneshwar Sundar Natakale (26), Rahul Sanjay Salve (23) and Rohit Ashok Dongare (27) — all three residents of Bhimnagar in Vishrantwadi — Siddhi Kamble (24) of Ambedkar Society in Yerawada and Harshal Bhosale (25) of Tingrenagar. All the suspects do small-time jobs with private entities in Yerawada, officials said.
Suspects were booked Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita section 126 (wrongful restraint), 132 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 304 (snatching), 189 (unlawful assembly), 191 (rioting), 281 (rash driving on public way) and 285 (Danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) along with provisions of Motor Vehicle Act.
