All Stars,Somans claim PBL titles

All Stars girls and Somans boys cruised to victories in their final matches at the 2nd Under 16 Pune Basketball League (PBL) that concluded on Wednesday. The league was organized by MPL and PBA events.

In the girls final,a confident and dominating display from All Stars saw them record an easy 43-33 victory over Bhujbal Constron. Shriya Joshi put in a stellar performance for All Stars scoring 12 points. Joshi was supported well by Pallavi Parnaik who helped herself to 10 points. Saaz Karandikar’s 10 points for Bhujbal Constron went in vain as she was unable to garner any support from her teammates.

In the boys final,Somans turned on the style and registered a thumping 53-39 win over Sumero Buildcon. At the end of the second quarter,the score read 32-28 with both teams looking evenly poised. However,in the last two quarters,Somans steamed ahead with Shubham Yande scoring 15 points putting his team in a commanding position. Pradhum Palande’s 10 points also helped Somans. Ashish Pawar put in a tireless shift for Sumeru Buildcon but his 16 points were ultimately not enough for his team to stop Somans from claiming title.
