The Pune police on Saturday arrested a man in Kasarwadi for allegedly killing his five-year-old son after a tiff with his wife. Police identified the suspect as Manoj Laxman Khalse (38) of Nashik Phata slums in Kasarwadi. His wife Sunita (35) lodged a complaint at Bhosari police station.
According to the police,Manoj had married Sunita about ten years ago. The couple had a son,Sonu. But Manoj suspected his wife of infidelity and had doubts whether Sonu was his son.
This led to frequent quarrels between the couple. On March 23,after another quarrel,Manoj allegedly kicked Sonu on the chest. Sonu collapsed and died.
To hide the evidence,Manoj along with his friends and relatives buried Sonu’s body at the ground behind a public toilet in Nashik Phata slums,police said.
A local resident informed the Bhosari police about the incident. The police questioned Sunita and she admitted her husband had killed and buried their son,police said. Police arrested Manoj on Friday and recovered Sonus body.
Police sub inspector M K Naikwade is investigating the case. Manoj is an agent for hiring passengers for private buses from Pune to Nashik.
