Being huddled in the midst of general stores may not be the best idea for an eatery. But Sqeeez The Healthy Bar,located on Aundh DP road near Gaikwad petrol pump, stands out as a spartan break point in a landscape dominated by garishly colourful display of provision shops. The place has a pack-it-up and leave look about it,but two tables outside the main shop re-assured us. The menu is a one-page affair that offers barely any information on what to expect there will be shakes, salads, sandwich,et al,and of course one can ask for veg or non-veg. We decide to cool off with some Mango shake, and succumb to the temptation of ordering a Pear shake as well. The place offers a no-sugar option for the shakes too.
The mango shake was delightfully au naturale it was thick, largely naturally sweetened, and had minimal liquid addition of any sorts. The pear shake had little chunks of pear swimming all through, which gave the drink an unusual texture. We reached the base of the tall glass by the time we realised that’s where the thickness of the drink lay. The straw struggled to do its job well from this point on.
The salad arrived accompanied by two stout chunks of fresh baguette cuts. With so much happening on the plate,we were glad that it all had been lovingly mixed, and brilliantly dressed. The chef special sauce was tangy and flavourful, and the rest of the additions did not overpower the vegetables and soft chicken chunks.
The salad can easily fill two people, but we still ordered for a sandwich. The ingredients for this were the same as for the salad,so we opted for an egg-mayo combination. The two slices of un-toasted brown bread had a generous filling of mayo slathered egg pieces, with some leafy veggies added in. There were, understandably,no desserts on offer, but we were so loaded with the healthy fare that we were indeed glad about the absence of any more temptation.
Sqeeez The Healthy Bar is low on frills, high on substance, and is eminently affordable. Now,who wouldn’t like such a place?
