Six months on,here’s a first look at what the renovated German Bakery will be like
This Friday,it will be six months since the German Bakery blast and the subsequent closure of the eatery. Though the renovations are yet to begin, what has assumed concrete shape is the design of the new place as and when it comes up,with city-based Pramod Purohit having been assigned the job of redesigning the bakery.
According to the drawings shared with The Indian Express, the new bakery is likely to have three levels – the ground, mezzanine and first floor, all of which will be connected to each other with a spiral staircase that will rise from the inside of the bakery on the ground floor. The ground floor will have seating for about 40-45 people while the first floor will have a capacity of around 60-65 persons. The lower area is about 700 square feet. There will also probably be a garden seating arrangement with an awning overhead. Though the ground floor will have a pantry and a serving counter, the main kitchen will be on the first floor that is spread over 1100 square feet. The final space is hence expected to be much larger than what it was earlier.
The cost of the renovation is expected to be around Rs 30 lakh. Of this,Rs14 lakh have already been given by the government in the form of compensation while the family is expecting to obtain a loan for the rest of the amount.
