Ramesh Bhite, 37, from Jeur tehsil in Ahmednagar district died of swine flu (H1N1 virus) on Friday at Ruby Hall Clinic. This is the eighth death due to swine flu this year, PMC health officials said.
Bhite had fever and cough from September 1 and was initially treated at Swasthya hospital at Ahmednagar. He was soon shifted to Pune’s Ruby Hall Clinic on September 5.
The throat swab tested positive on September 8 for swine flu and Bhite died due to HINI viral pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome and multi-organ failure.
So far, 25 persons have tested positive for swine flu, out of which 16 have responded to treatment and has been discharged from hospitals. Presently, one person with swine flu is on ventilation at the hospital.
