23-year-old raped by husband, 5 friends; police launch search

According to the FIR, in February 2020, the estranged husband came to his father in law’s house in Pune and allegedly forcibly took the victim to a secluded location. Thereupon, her husband and his five friends took turns to rape her, the FIR states. The woman was also beaten with wooden sticks. The accused persons shot videos of the act and used them to threaten her and to further sexually exploit her on multiple occasions in 2020 and 2021 at various places in Pune, according to the FIR.

Officials said the woman’s father recently approached a court with a complaint. Following the court order, an FIR was registered on Saturday night at a police station in Pune. “We have launched a search for the woman’s husband and his five friends whose names have been given to us in the complaint,” said an officer from the police station.
