The PIMPRI CHINCHWAD police arrested a 21-year-old teacher working with a private educational institute for allegedly sexually abusing three male students aged 15 earlier this year. Police have also arrested a 27-year-old head of the institute for failing to report the matter to the police.
An FIR in the case was registered at a police station under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad police on Tuesday. A senior officer from the police station said till now, three male students aged 15 have come forward and reported sexual abuse by the accused teacher.
“Initially one student came forward and later, two more students reported sexual abuse. They have accused the teacher of inappropriate touch,” said the officer. Police have booked the teacher under Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, pertaining to sexual assault.
“Investigation further revealed that the student had first reported the sexual abuse to the head of the institute. But he did not take any action and neither did he report the matter to the police. We have also arrested the head of the institute,” added the officer.
Police have booked the institute head under Section 21 of the POCSO Act for failing to report the matter.
