2-yr-old boy drowns in uncovered water tank

A two-year-old boy drowned in an uncovered underground tank at an under-construction building in Loni Kalbhor. The police have booked the works contractor for causing death due to negligence.

Police have identified the deceased as Prince Chandrakumar Koshale, whose father works at the construction site. The incident took place around 11.50 pm on April 6 on the construction site of a new residential building being constructed at Raywadi Road in Loni Kalbhor. An FIR in the case was registered on Tuesday.

“The contractor has constructed an underground water tank on the site. Probe suggests that Prince was playing in the area when he fell in the tank, which does not have a cover or protective lid. A while later the boy’s family started searching for him. He was found dead in the tank a while later.” said an officer from Loni Kalbhor police station.

Sub Inspector Hanumant Tarate, who is investigating the case said, “We have booked the contractor Bapu Shivram Mane on the charges of causing death due to negligence.”
