13-year-old girl kidnapped from Pune, sexually assaulted; rescued in UP

A team from the police station launched an operation to rescue the girl. During investigation, the police team went to Nanded district in Maharashtra—the accused’s native place—and learnt that he had moved to Hyderabad. An officer, who is part of the probe, said after realising that the police was searching for him, the accused fled Hyderabad along with the girl. Technical analysis revealed that he went to stay at a relative’s place in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat district.

After confirming the location in Baghpat, a team from Pune city police reached the village there and rescued the girl on November 18. Further probe revealed that the accused sexually abused and raped the girl. Police arrested the accused and his stepmother on November 20 and booked him under sections pertaining to rape and and relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
