Perturbed over the free run of absconding Congress councillor Devinder Singh Babla and Baba Pritpal Singh to evade arrest and judicial trial, the Chandigarh Police has constituted two teams to track the whereabouts of the two accused. Senior Suprintendent of Police S S Srivastva said the two teams, comprising members from the Crime Branch and Special Crime Investigation Cell, have been constituted to look into the two cases. Both the high-profile accused have been on the run in different cases and have been evading arrest ever since they were booked by the police.

While Baba Pritpal Singh was accused of cheating and forgery in a land-grab case after an NRI woman filed a complaint against him,Babla has been booked for illegal allotment of sheds in the Sector-26 grain market.

The UT police, under pressure from various quarters, have set up two teams comprising selected members from Special Crime Investigation Cell and Crime Branch, which will be headed by DSP (CID) Satbir Singh.
