The sources said the political parties were actively participating in the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral roll that was announced on June 24. The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on September 30, ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls due in October-November.
“All political parties are in the process of appointing more and more BLAs for proper verification of the electoral rolls,” an EC source said.

The EC, this time, is preparing the rolls afresh as opposed to the annual special summary revisions and the revisions before each Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
All 7.89 crore registered electors have to submit enumeration forms by July 25. Those who were not on the rolls as on January 1, 2003, around 2.93 crore electors, in addition have to submit documents establishing their eligibility — that is proving their place of residence and citizenship.
