Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that the role of women and their participation in development and growth would be integral to achieve the cherished goal of Viksit Maharashtra 2047. The CM was speaking after inaugurating the Shakti Samvad conclave jointly organised by National Commission for Women and Maharashtra State Women’s Commission in Mumbai on Friday.

“The state government is committed to women’s social, financial and overall development. The discussion at the conclave on challenges and concerns related to women will be incorporated in state policies,” he said.

“The Constitution by Dr B R Ambedkar has enshrined the rights of freedom and gender equality. There is no place for discrimination based on gender in places of work or unorganized sectors. The women should be treated at par with male counterparts in places of work across sectors,” he said.

Speaking at the conference, National Commission for Women chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar said, “There should be collective approach across states for empowerment of women. Through collective efforts, challenges related to women at work places or any sectors can be effectively tackled.”
