Western Railway holds meeting to maximise revenue potential

Suggestions were made and ideas were exchanged on ways to enhance the ease of doing business.

With a view to maximise the non-fare revenue (NFR) potential of its Mumbai division, Western Railway conducted a meeting with its partners at its Mumbai Central office on December 15. The meeting was attended by 27 agencies in person. Another 18 agencies attended it remotely.

An official said an intense discussion was held on various new ideas like one station one contract, one amenity one advertiser and the development of self-ticketing zones.

In addition to this, many new sites were identified by the division. Suggestions were made and ideas were exchanged on ways to enhance the ease of doing business, the official stressed.

The Mumbai division of WR is spread over 634.15 kilometres with 113 stations that serve the states of Maharashtra and Gujarat. The suburban section of Mumbai Division starts from Churchgate Station and ends at Dahanu Road station (36 stations) comprising 1,394 EMU Services (96 AC EMU services) 106 mail / express trains, 44 MEMU/passenger/shuttle trains. The daily average of suburban passengers is 27.7 lakh and 2.25 lakh non-suburban passengers.
