WITH HSC results to be declared Thursday,Mumbai University has announced the admission schedule to first-year undergraduate courses. Sale of forms will start from May 30 and continue till June 6. The first merit list will be declared on June 10, the second will be put up on June 12 and the third will be announced on June 14. The university schedule says that in-house admission can be given during June 6-10. “In case of untoward incidents,such as collapse of the transport system,deluge,etc,a new schedule will be declared by the university,” says a statement by the university. According to the varsity,1,76,070 seats are available across various streams and 1,51,16 seats are available at university’s Institute of Distance & Open Learning (IDOL).

Women call phone pest to station,beat him up

Two women in their early twenties beat up one Mithilesh Tiwari (30) at Kurla station Wednesday for alleged harassment. The women said Tiwari had been harrasing one of them over phone for the past 15 days. Shivaji Dhumal,senior inspector,Kurla GRP,said the victim of Dharavi and her friend called Tiwari,employee of a transport company in Thane,to Kurla Railway station at 2.30 pm Wednesday after he refused to stop texting and giving her missed calls. She told him what she would be wearing. As soon as Tiwari appraoched her,the women reprimanded him. When he allegedly refused to relent,they beat him up and handed over to police.

Fault in local train disrupts CR services

Services on Central Railway (CR) were disrupted Wednesday morning due to unit failure in a Khopoli-bound local at Badlapur station. Twenty-five trains were delayed and one cancelled,authorities said,adding that services were restored in 15 minutes. A K Singh,public relations officer (CR),said,“The Khopoli-bound train was vacated and brought to siding for repair. Trains were delayed for 20-25 minutes.”
