At Mumbai job fair, Uddhav Thackeray slams ‘gaddars in government’, says they will lose jobs after Assembly polls

Uddhav Thackeray also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ‘filling the pockets of his contractor friend’ and said that Maharashtra was being looted under the garb of projects.

In a clear reference to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the other rebel leaders who broke away from his party, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday slammed the “gaddars (traitors) sitting in the government” and declared that they would not be allowed to return after the upcoming Assembly elections.

Uddhav also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was “filling the pockets of his contractor friend” while the Shiv Sena (UBT) was providing jobs to unemployed youth.

“The gaddars sitting in the government today will be unemployed in a month. They will come to us seeking employment. But I will not give employment to any gaddar,” Uddhav said, speaking at a mega job fair organised by Shiv Sena MLC Anil Parab as part of fulfilling his promise given to the youth during the Mumbai graduates elections in June.

Taking a potshot at PM Modi, Uddhav said, “Today, on the one hand, the Prime Minister is coming to fill the pockets of his contractor friend… The pockets of the contractors are being filled, the pockets of their party office bearers are being filled through the contractor.”

He further said that Maharashtra is being looted under the garb of projects. “When our government comes into power after a month, we will bring it before the public,” Uddhav said. “Our Hindutva is setting people’s chulha (hearth) on fire while BJP’s Hindutva is setting the house on fire. That is why they want to finish off Shiv Sena,” he added.

Uddhav also sounded a warning to those who denied jobs to Maharashtrians saying that “sons of the soil” must be given priority in every state.

Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray also attacked CM Shinde over the alleged rampant corruption in the Mahayuti government. “Today, we have set up stalls here to give jobs but stalls have been set up to sell in ‘Mindhe’ Maharashtra. We will hold this job fair every four months after our government comes to power,” Aaditya said. “During the ‘Mindhe’ regime, many industries were sent from Maharashtra to a neighbouring state. Maharashtra has not seen such an inefficient chief minister,” he added.

Parab, who organised the event, said that 134 companies had set up 160 stalls for job interviews on Saturday. “The response to the job fair clearly shows that unemployment has increased tremendously in the last two and a half years in the state. Today, a minimum of 12,000 youth will get jobs. We are doing this despite not being in power. It will be held every year. It was the promise I made during the graduate elections,” added Parab.
