The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train has gained momentum at the hands of Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Mumbai, said Mumbai’s BJP president Ashish Shelar on Friday while blaming Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray for delaying the ambitious project.

He also pointed fingers at the previous Thackeray government for the cost escalation of the project.

“The work on this project should have commenced almost two-and-a-half years ago. But since the former chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had opposed it and had not allowed work to commence, the crucial project got delayed, thus making Mumbaikars wait for two-and-a-half years. But now, the work on the project has gained momentum,” Shelar told reporters.
