Indian Railways’ Round Trip Package scheme is aimed at hassle free ticket booking for passengers travelling to their hometowns during upcoming festivals such as Diwali and Chhath. It will also enhance passenger comfort.
Under Indian Railways’ Round Trip Package scheme, total rebates of 20 per cent shall be applicable on the base fare of return journey only. However, this rebates are applicable when tickets booked for both onward and return journey for the same set of passengers.
How Many Tickets Booked Under Indian Railways Festival Round Trip Scheme?
A total of 9,250 tickets have been booked under Indian Railways’ Round Trip Scheme so far. Speaking to Indianexpress.com, a senior IRCTC official has confirmed the development. “From August 14 to September 24, 9,250 cumulative round trip tickets were booked through the IRCTC website, IRCTC Rail Connect App, and RailOne App, covering 13,049 passengers,” the IRCTC official said.
Elaborating further, the IRCTC official added that of these 9250 tickets, 3290 were booked via the website, 5100 through the IRCTC Rail Connect App, and 860 via the RailOne app.
Indian Railways Round Trip Package: No Refund of Fare
In a statement, the national transporter stated that no refund of fare shall be permissible for the tickets booked under Round Trip Package scheme. “No discount, Rail travel coupons, Voucher based booking, Passes or PTOs etc, shall be admissible during return journey booking on concessional fare,” it said.
