The police said the complainant in the case is police constable Deepak Naval Dabhade, who is an eye-witness and has also sustained injuries in the accident.Two persons including a 12-year-old boy died while three others sustained serious injuries after a driver of a four wheeler allegedly lost control and rammed onto a divider before running over them on the opposite lane on Lalbaug flyover in Parel. The police said the incident took place at around 10 pm on Sunday and it is the third accident that has taken place at the same location in the past two months.

The constable has informed the investigators that a man identified as Mohammad Hamza Imtiaz Sheikh was speeding due to which he lost control over his vehicle.
“Sheikh is a secondhand motor vehicle dealer and after taking possession of a Lancer car from Sion, he was going back home on Grant Road. He was on the south-bound lane and after ramming the divider, he ended up on the north-bound lane and collided with two two-wheelers that were travelling on the lane,” said a police officer.
One bike was being driven by Dabhade while a family comprising of husband-wife Sohail Attar Shaikh (39), his wife Aasman (35), their son Mohammad Ali Shaikh (12) and daughter Fatima (4) were on the second bike that met with the accident.
The police said the injured were rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared Sohail and Mohammad Ali dead before admission while Aasma and Fatima have suffered serious injuries. They are being treated in the hospital. “They had gone for dinner in south Mumbai and while they were returning to their Dadar home, they met with an accident,” said an investigator.
In the meantime, the police said Sheikh was taken into custody and detained at Kalachowkie police station.
An officer said, “A case of rash and negligent driving has been registered after which Sheikh was arrested. We have taken his blood samples and are trying to determine whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.”
