Two dead after bike collides with a stationary tempo on WEH

Two men died in a road accident on Western Express Highway in Vile Parle on Thursday, after the bike they were riding made contact with a stationary tempo on the road. The police have booked the driver of the tempo on charges of causing death by negligence and are trying to trace him.

Tushar Dayanand Khandagale, 25, an Andheri resident, and Chirag Nitin Nair, 20, were riding on Nair’s bike and were travelling from Bandra to Andheri on Thursday early morning.

According to the Vile Parle police, the accused tempo driver Arvindkumar Yadav had stopped his tempo on the side of the northbound road of highway in Ram Nagar area due to a tyre puncture. Yadav was taking out his tools to replace the tyre when the bike crashed into his vehicle.

As Yadav did not put any reflector or diversion mark, at around 4.30am, Nair, who was riding the bike, could not see the stationary tempo ahead and crashed into it, states the FIR.

Nair and Khandagle both sustained serious injuries. Locals rushed the two to Cooper hospital where doctors declared them dead.

On Khandagale’s father’s complaint the Vile Parle Police Thursday registered a case against Yadav under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Motors Vehicle Act and are looking for him.
