Train hits buffer,10 injured

Ten people were injured after a Churchgate-Andheri local derailed and hit a buffer in Andheri.

Ten people were injured after a Churchgate-Andheri local derailed and hit a buffer in Andheri. They were rushed to R N Cooper Hospital. Ujjwala Mishra (46) had to be shifted to the Intensive Care Unit. “Ten injured were brought in of which only one female was admitted. She is at present stable and under observation,” said Dr S Gawde,medical superintendent RN Cooper Hospital.

Traffic on the harbour line was also affected. “Harbour line trains going to Andheri were held up. They were short-terminated till Bandra,” said Central Railway chief spokesperson Shriniwas Mudgerikar. “But train services from Churchgate to Virar were not affected by this” said Shyam Sunder Gupta.

An inquiry has been ordered into the incident against motorman Malket Singh.
