As Minissha Lamba walks into Landmark, one of the citys more popular stores for music, movies and literature at the Infiniti Mall in Andheri, one cant help but notice the glee on her face. I come here all the time. I am in love with this place, she says as she heads to the helpdesk to check on an order she had placed a few days ago. Dressed in a pair of leggings and an olive green top,she is the cynosure of all eyes at the store. Her radiant smile and clear complexion apart, whats bringing an additional glow to her face is the purchase of a new apartment in Versova. Finally,I have found a house after six months of looking. I am very happy with the purchase; I have to now to do it up.
She is just back from Goa after shooting a portion of Sagar Bellarys next,a romantic comedy. She looks a bit fuller and is extremely pleased with her glowing tan. Indians dont understand the concept of tanning. But I love to get one whenever I get the opportunity, she smiles as she surfs around the store, specifically for science fiction books, her favourite genre.
But for now,it is her upcoming release,Shyam Benegals Well Done Abba thats keeping her on her toes. I play a 17-year-old in the film. I am wearing a starched uniform with pigtails. It is a comedy and we had quite a tough time shooting for it in the heat, she says. Lamba happened to meet the legendary director when he came to her with the script. I was so thrilled that Sir wanted to cast me. There was no way I was going to let him down.
From the time she debuted with Yahaan, the 25-year-old has managed to garner mass adulation. The ardent fans coming up for a chat and shoppers trying to get a glimpse of her reiterates the fact. As we are talking,a couple of boys interrupt our conversation and ask the petite actress to pose for a photograph with them. She politely obliges, after which they remind the actress of their meeting in Bikaner when she was shooting for Anamika. After a brief yet friendly conversation, she chimes: I love the people in Mumbai. They are very sweet and dont make you uncomfortable in public, says the actor who has been residing here for five years now.
Although Lamba believes that comedy is her forte, her glamorous roles in Bachna Ae Haseeno and Kidnap opposite Bollywood heartthrobs Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan respectively were quite the talk of the town. I have always done films I have believed in and I am happy about doing each of my films, she confirms. In the same breath she adds,But box office success matters a lot too. And looks like she is confident of achieving this through her upcoming films.
