The Malad police arrested three youths on Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a pub in Malad and stealing electronic items worth Rs 6 lakh on Sunday.

The Malad police arrested three youths on Tuesday for allegedly breaking into a pub in Malad and stealing electronic items worth Rs 6 lakh on Sunday. The trio used to work in the pub and allegedly carried out the theft as an act of revenge against its owner who had sacked them and hadn’t paid their salaries for the last month, alleged the police.

Police said Yasmin Abdul Shaikh (23),Sebastian (20) and Ashraf Shaikh (21) had been working at ‘Soda’,a pub located on Link Road in Malad (West),for the past seven months. Last Thursday, the three were sacked by the pub owner.

In the early hours of Sunday, after the pub had closed for the day,the three allegedly reached the spot and asked for an iron rod from the watchman of the neighbouring building, police said.

“They told the watchman that they wanted to shift some things from the shop. The watchman did not know that the three were not working at the pub anymore and gave them the rod,” said Assistant inspector Manohar Herpude from the Malad police station.

On Sunday, when the owner,Vikram Seth, reached the spot and saw the electronic equipment missing,he lodged a complaint with the police.
