Three held for posting ‘objectionable’ comments about women’s panel chief Rupali Chakankar

According to police officials, the picture and the comments were posted on Facebook between October 22, 2024, and December 28, 2024, after which one of the office-bearers of the women’s commission filed a police complaint.

Three persons were arrested for allegedly posting objectionable comments about Maharashtra State Women’s Commission Chairperson Rupali Chakankar on Facebook, police said Wednesday.

According to the South Cyber Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch, a picture of  Chakankar  was uploaded on a Facebook page “Rajkaran Maharashtraache” to target her , following which other users of the platform began posting obscene comments under it.

A case was then registered under relevant sections of the BNS, and an accused, identified as Babasaheb Shinde, was arrested on January 8.

Later, two others, identified as Avinash Pukle (30) and Aakash Dalve (30), were arrested from their respective residences in Solapur, Wednesday. Meanwhile, a court here granted bail to  Pukle and Dalve after furnishing bond of Rs 15,000.
