After having designed the winners’ trophies for the Indian Grand Prix and the baton for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, product designer Michael Foley is back with something new. Known for his love for experimentation,he has created his first range of tableware. Currently available at Contemporary Arts and Crafts, this collection –– made for Arta Broch Ceramics –– is motivated by his “desire to contextualise the traditions of Indian royalty into a modern world”. The symbols for the line have been derived from royal architecture, nature and traditional Indian jewellery. “The colours and textures that inspired these designs have been drawn from a wealth of resources, including archival documentation and my own passion for watercolour as a medium of expression,” says Foley.
