Thane police chief Jaijeet Singh promoted to DG rank, retains top cop post
The 1990-batch officer was appointed as Thane police commissioner in May 2021 and had almost completed his tenure when he was promoted and retained at the same post.

As part of a major transfer exercise of senior Indian Police Service officers in Maharashtra on Monday, Thane Police Commissioner Jaijeet Singh was promoted to the Director General (DG) rank and retained as Thane police chief by the state government on Monday.
The 1990-batch officer was appointed as Thane police commissioner in May 2021 and had almost completed his tenure when he was promoted and retained at the same post.
Apart from Singh, nearly 30 IPS officers across the state were promoted and transferred on Monday. This included the transfer of DCP ( zone IX) Anil Parasakar who was promoted to the DIG rank and appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police (central region) while DCP (zone II) Abhinav Deshmukh was promoted and appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police (south region).
Apart from this, Sadanand Date, who was Additional DG, Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), was promoted to DG of ATS while Bipin Kumar Singh was appointed head of the Maharashtra State Security Corporation.
Others who were promoted and transferred include Shashi Meena, who was appointed Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), and Virendra Mishra, who was appointed Additional Commissioner (Special Branch), Mumbai Police. KMM Prasanna, who was Inspector General of Sambhaji Nagar, was appointed as IG (Establishment), Maharashtra Police.
