Teen sets herself on fire,dies

Soon after he came to know of his sister’s relationship with Gambhire,he immediately called his family members. Vandana’s brothers reached his house had begun thrashing Gambhire,” said police sub-inspector Santosh Gaikwad.

Vandana had reportedly tried to intervene,but after realising that her brothers would not relent,she rushed to her house,doused herself with kerosene,and set herself afire. “After she was brought to the hospital,the authorities informed us. The brothers initially alleged that Gambhire had set their sister on fire; however,they were unable to corroborate their story,as certain facts seemed false. The brother claimed that he was sleeping in the house when Gambhire came inside only to set Vandana on fire.

However,the family stays in a small room and going by his story,they should have heard Vandana’s screams. However,everything became clear when the victim in her dying declaration described the entire incident and we have registered a case of accidental death,” said Gaikwad.

The police said that they would make further investigations,if the family wished to register a case of abetment against Gambhire. Meanwhile,Gambhire has claimed that Vandana was pursuing him for the last one year and he did not have any relationship with her.
