Fearing that it might expose its own members, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has asked its commission panel to limit its probe only to the matter regarding the 405 unsold tickets for the 2011 World Cup final between India and Sri Lanka.
The commission, chaired by two advocates and former MCA member Ravi Mandrekar, has been calling the association’s administrators to quiz them about the issue. However, the commission is believed to have investigated the recipients of the complimentary tickets from the MCA members and the number of tickets that each managing committee member got.
However,a few MCA members objected to this during the last emergent committee meeting. Many members felt that it was inappropriate for the commission to quiz about the subject which is not related to 405 unsold tickets. So it was advised to the commission to limit the investigation only to that matter and not extend it beyond, a managing committee member said.
A few members believe that if the commission conducted an in-depth probe, then the MCA might be under scanner. Members are worried that if the commission starts to probe other matters then it may attract unnecessary trouble for some. As the MCA has set this panel only for the 405 unsold tickets, there is no point of changing the scope of it, a MCA insider said.
