SSC exam begins today, 16 lakh students to appear

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, headquartered in Pune, said that a total of 16,09,445 candidates are appearing for SSC examination in the state.

Over 16 lakh students from the state will appear for Secondary School Certificate (Class 10) examination commencing on Friday. This includes a total of 3,64,314 candidates from Mumbai division alone which covers six districts.

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, headquartered in Pune, said that a total of 16,09,445 candidates are appearing for SSC examination in the state.

Extending his wishes to students appearing for SSC examination, Deepak Kesarkar, School Education Minister, said, “The administration is careful about conducting hassle-free examination. Students should not take any pressure and calmly appear for the exam without mental stress or fear.”

As per the information shared by Subhash Borse, divisional secretary of Mumbai division of Maharashtra State Board, among the total 3.6 lakh students in Mumbai division, 1,90,054 are boys and 1,74,246 are girls. There are 2,638 candidates who are persons with disabilities. There are a total of 1,060 centres for SSC examination in Mumbai division.

Among six districts under Mumbai division, Thane has the highest registration with 1,21,524 candidates. This is followed by Palghar district with 65,385 candidates and Mumbai Western with 60,863 candidates. There are 43,434 candidates from Mumbai North. Districts Raigad and Mumbai South have less than 40,000 candidates.

The Maharashtra State Board in February declared a list of mobile numbers of counsellors as per the practice followed every year, to help students manage exam-related stress, whether academic or mental. These counsellors are essentially teachers who are trained in counselling. Apart from students, even parents have been seen taking help from these counsellors in the past.

As per last year, students will get extra ten minutes to write their paper. Students have to be seated 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the paper.
