Singapore-bound passengers held with foreign cash

Undeclared foreign currency worth over Rs 35 lakh was seized from three men at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Monday.

Undeclared foreign currency worth over Rs 35 lakh was seized from three men at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Monday.

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs intercepted three individuals — identified as C Harichandani,Vaswani Hemandas,and Pushpa Vaswani—on their way to Singapore after they finished security check at the airport.

According to B S Nunwal,Additional Commissioner of Customs,US$ 30,500 was seized from the men after they failed to disclose the cash.

The currency was seized under the provisions of the Customs Act,1962.
