Shiv Sena MLAs disqualification: 2-week time granted to Shinde Sena MLAs to file detailed replies

After receiving the replies, Narvekar on Monday took a meeting to review the replies and instructed the officials to examine its before the starting the procedure for the hearing the disqualification pleas.

Days after the two factions of Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Uddhav Thackeray submitted their replies to the disqualification notices issued by Speaker Rahul Narvekar, the Speaker gave two-week time to 40 Shinde led Sena MLAs to file detailed replies.

After receiving the replies, Narvekar on Monday took a meeting to review the replies and instructed the officials to examine its before the starting the procedure for the hearing the disqualification pleas.

According to officials, in the Shinde-led Sena MLAs’ replies, they had asked for more time to give in detail replies and present some documentary evidences and hence more two weeks of time has been granted to them.

“Once the 40 MLAs file their replies, we will start the further procedure for the disqualification hearing,” an official said.

Earlier this month, notices were issued to the 54 Shiv Sena MLAs which includes 40 from Shinde-led Sena and 14 from Uddhav Sena.

The notices were issued under the Members of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly (Disqualification on Grounds of Defection) Rules and the MLAs were asked to present their side in writing to the Speaker’s office within seven days, a source said.
