Shiney’s judicial custody extended till August 13

The Bandra Magistrate Court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of actor Shiney Ahuja till August 13.

The Bandra Magistrate Court on Thursday extended the judicial custody of actor Shiney Ahuja till August 13. Shiney, who is in custody since June 15,is lodged at the Arthur Road undertrial Jail.

Ahuja was not produced before court and the custody was taken through video conferencing. His bail plea has been rejected once and the police are yet to file a chargesheet in the matter.

In a bail application filed by Ahuja last month, the defence lawyer had argued that Ahuja belongs to a respectable family and the case was concocted. His lawyer Shrikant Shivde further told the court that the actor was willing to shift to Delhi or any other city if the judge felt that he may tamper with evidence or influence witnesses if he was released from jail.

However, the court accepted prosecution’s argument that Shiney was accused of a heinous crime. The prosecutor had also argued that Ahuja’s release will send across a wrong message to women.

With forensic reports going against Ahuija, defence will have to wait till the chargesheet is filed. Ahuja has already spent more than a month behind bars.
