Shinde, Fadnavis raise classical language status for Marathi at Western Zonal Council meet

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis raised the long-pending issue of according classical language status to Marathi at the 26th meeting of the Western Zonal Council chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Gandhinagar on Monday.
At the event, the Union Home Minister launched a web portal of ISCS Secretariat and a detailed discussion was held on the meeting’s “action points” and agenda items. A presentation on best practices from respective states was also done.
The key points discussed included speedy investigation of cases of sexual offence/rape against women and children; implementation of the scheme of Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) for expeditious disposal of rape and POCSO Act cases; utilisation of Bharat Net infrastructure by states for providing broadband connectivity to government institutions, rural enterprises and households facilitation for 5G rollout across state; Aadhaar and DBT linkage; vehicle scrapping; creation of two lakh new Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACSs) in the country; Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (ABPMJAY) and addressing malnutrition among girl children through Poshan Abhiyan.

The state government also discussed projects awaiting forest and wildlife clearances. The CM pressed upon the need to get clearances on an urgent basis to pave the way for several infrastructure and road projects in Maharashtra.
In addition, formulation of local contingency plan for “Mass Rescue Operations at Sea” as a part of disaster management was reflected.
The state government also stressed the need to revise the procurement policy in line with the Centre’s directives. The operationalisation of auctioned mines in Maharashtra was also discussed.
