Man held in Bihar for killing 9-yr-old in Mumbai’s Santacruz
Unable to find the boy, his family filed a missing person's report at the Santacruz police station.

A 31-year-old man from Bihar was arrested by Mumbai police for allegedly kidnapping and murdering a nine-year-old boy in Santacruz. According to the police, the boy had been missing since November 7. After his decomposed body was discovered, the suspect was identified with the help of CCTV footage and was later apprehended in his hometown.
The accused has been identified as Maheshwar Mukhiya. He allegedly told the police that he killed the boy by strangling him because he panicked when the nine-year-old screamed for help while being abducted. However, investigators are still trying to determine the exact motive.
The police said the boy lived with his family in Santacruz. On November 7, his parents had gone to Juhu Beach for Chhath Puja celebrations. “When they returned home in the evening, they found their son missing and began searching for him,” an officer said.
Unable to find the boy, his family filed a missing person’s report at the Santacruz police station. On November 11, the police discovered a decomposed body on the roof of a shop in Santacruz. The boy was identified by the clothes he was wearing.
During the investigation, the police examined CCTV footage and found a video showing the boy walking with Maheshwar. “When we began searching for Maheshwar, we learned that he was from the same locality and had recently left for Bihar,” an officer said.
A police team was then dispatched to Madhubani village in Bihar, where the suspect was arrested.
