After multiple threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and firing outside his residence last year, actor Salman Khan has gone in for a major security upgrade at his residence in the Galaxy apartment in Bandra.

A large bulletproof glass panel has been installed on the balcony of the actor’s flat in Bandra, completely covering the view. This installation allows the actor to wave to his fans from the balcony while ensuring his protection against any potential attempts to shoot at him or throw objects at his residence.

A high-tech security system has also been installed, including a high-resolution CCTV camera to detect any suspicious movement. A person has been assigned to monitor the footage from the cameras and will report any unusual activity outside the residence.

On April 14, 2024, two bike-borne men affiliated with the Bishnoi gang fired five rounds at his residence, with some of the bullets entering the residence. While the actor enjoys high police security, when the attack took place, the police vehicle meant to protect him was not at the spot. The actor was reportedly upset with the police that such an attack could take place in spite of him being a high-profile protectee.

Following the security breach, the police oversaw the security arrangements for the actor and increased the same. A senior police officer said that every few months, they conduct a security review of the actor and take steps accordingly.

The Bishnoi gang reportedly targets Salman Khan over his involvement in the 1998 killing of a black buck, which is revered by the Bishnoi community.

In the chargesheet in the Baba Siddique murder case, the Mumbai police said the Bishnoi gang had Salman Khan in its crosshairs but instead targeted the former Maharashtra minister, a close associate of the actor, due to the heightened security around Salman Khan. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Siddique was shot dead on October 12, 2024, in Bandra East outside the office of his son Zeeshan Akhtar. The police made 26 arrests in the case and filed a 4,590-page chargesheet before a special court on Monday.
