The RSS on Saturday organised three simultaneous marches — ‘pathasanchalans’ — for the first time as part of its centenary celebrations. The RSS was officially founded on Vijayadashami (September 27, 1925) at the ancestral home of Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.

The marches began at around 7 pm from three different points in the city: Kasturchand Park, Yashwant Stadium and the Indian Hockey Ground on Amravati Road. At around 8 pm, all three converged at Variety Square, Sitabuldi, where RSS chief Dr Mohan Bhagwat witnessed the parade. RSS Sahasanghchalak for Vidarbha region Shridhar Gadge and Nagpur Mahanagar Sanghachalak Rajesh Loya were also present. According to RSS members, the event saw participation of over 21,000 swayamsevaks from across Nagpur.

Earlier on Saturday morning, Bhagwat launched an audio-video album of the Sangh Prarthana at Maharshi Vyas Sabhagriha, Dr Hedgewar Smruti Bhawan, Reshimbag, Nagpur.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhagwat said the Sangh’s daily prayer is the collective resolve of swayamsevaks, symbolising devotion, love and surrender to Bharat Mata. Recited since 1939, the prayer has “attained the strength of a mantra” and continues to instil discipline and conviction among volunteers, he noted.
