A 38-year-old unemployed man stabbed his mother early Monday morning. Vakola police said Vishal Dhavan,a school drop-out,stabbed his mother,Meena (54) in the presence of his father.
Narendra Dhavan,his father,told the police that though he witnessed the attack, he did not want to register a case against his son.
Vishal came home drunk and asked for money to buy more liquor. Meena refused as she had given him money earlier,police said.
Vishal took a knife and stabbed Meena twice,even as his father tried to stop him,said police. She has two deep wounds in the stomach,police said.
Narendra alerted his neighbors and they took Meena to Gurunanak hospital. The hospital authorities informed the police. After our team reached the hospital,we found out that the victim was stabbed by her son. We nabbed Vishal from CST Road. He has confessed, said Vinayak Mule,senior inspector.
Though the parents did not want to register a complaint against Vishal,police have booked him for attempt to murder. Meena was operated on at Lilavati hospital Tuesday and is still critical.
