Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s plan to introduce guarantee card will flop in Maharashtra.
Addressing media persons in Mumbai on Thursday, Fadnavis said, “Rahul Gandhi’s guarantee card will not work in Maharashtra. It will flop. Why is Congress not using the guarantee card in Telengana and Himachal Pradesh where it has the government?”
Rahul Gandhi had announced plans to unveil guarantee card for Maharashtra Assembly polls next week in Mumbai.
“The idea failed in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. In Maharashtra where polling for 288 Assembly seats will take place on November 20, Congress attempt to recycle such concepts will fail,” Fadnavis said.
Commenting on the dozen-plus rebels challenging official candidates, Fadnavis said, the Mahayuti leaders will coordinate and tackle the rebel issue.
“The late date of withdrawal of nomination for the Assembly polls is November 4. By then we will succeed to persuade the rebels to withdraw from contest,” he said.
Congress leader Raviraj joined the BJP at party headquarters on Thursday in presence of Fadnavis and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar.
Fadnavis said, “The process of leaders quitting Congress to join BJP will continue.”
The BJP hopes to secure its Sion Koliwada constituency with Raviraj joining the party. The seats is being contested by sitting MLA Captain R Tamil Selvan.
Raviraj is a five-term corporator and served as an opposition leader in the BMC.
