Professor Manoj Tiwari re-appointed director of IIM Mumbai

Established in 1963 as NITIE, the institute is known for its expertise in logistics and supply chain management.

Professor Manoj Kumar K Tiwari began his second stint as the director of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai on Friday after his re-appointment was approved by President Droupadi Murmu.

Professor Tiwari, who served as the founding director of IIM Mumbai (formerly NITIE), thanked the Board of Governors, Ministry officials, faculty, staff, students, and alumni for their continued trust and support. He brings over three decades of academic, research, and administrative experience, having contributed significantly to policy reforms and the development of higher education in India.

Highlighting his invaluable experience in both academic and administrative leadership, Chairperson of the Board of Governors at IIM Mumbai Shashi Kiran Shetty, said, “We are thrilled to have professor Tiwari continue his leadership at IIM Mumbai. Under his leadership, we are confident IIM Mumbai will continue to scale new heights in innovation, research, and education.”

IIM Mumbai, which became the newest IIM in India in 2023, is currently planning a massive infrastructure development project worth Rs 800 crore, set to be executed in three phases over the next five years, further strengthening its academic and administrative capabilities.

Established in 1963 as NITIE, the institute is known for its expertise in logistics and supply chain management. It offered PG diploma courses in three areas—Industrial Engineering, Industrial Management and Sustainability Management.

In August 2023, the institute gained the status of IIM Mumbai, following the latest amendment to the IIM Act. IIM Mumbai now offers three MBA courses – MBA (general), MBA in Sustainability and Management and MBA in Operations and supply chain management.
