“As soon as we received the information, a team from Bhagyanagar police station went to the spot and recovered 436 rounds (cartridges). They were partially exposed inside a drain,” said an officer.

“We found that 7.62 MM OFV-78-M-80 was written on the fire cap of the cartridges, from which we learnt that the rounds were made in 1978,” said an investigator.

Police suspect that someone must have disposed of the rounds in the drain after they caught rust. “We are trying to find the person to check whether he had a licence to possess these cartridges,” the officer added.
