The Mahatma Phule police station in Kalyan released the sketches of three men who allegedly raped a teenager early on Tuesday. The men are believed to be aged between 25 and 30. According to the police, the sketches have been prepared as per the description provided by the victim and search for the accused is on.

On Monday, the 17-year-old victim had gone to Pune to meet her boyfriend. The victim’s family — which lives in Dombivili — disapproved of the relationship and had seized her mobile phone the previous night.

When the girl boarded Sinhagad Express from Dadar without her family’s knowledge, they registered a missing person’s complaint at the Ram Nagar police station in Dombivili. When a friend got to know about this, she informed the boy who in turn told the girl.

The junior college student then boarded the Chennai-Dadar Express from Pune around 11.30 pm to return home. “Before that she telephoned a male friend to receive her at Kalyan station. After alighting at Kalyan station around 2.30 am,she decided to spend some time at the station as there was no other mode of transport to reach Dombivili,” said a police officer.

The girl and her friend, who came to receive her, then walked towards the south end of platform no 1A,a relatively deserted spot, from where they exited the railway premises. Here, three men accosted them. While one man drove away the boy with threats, another chased the girl and got hold of her.

The victim told the police she was subsequently taken to a spot near an open drain adjoining a residential complex where two of the three men allegedly raped her.
