In statement to police, Saif Ali Khan says he and Kareena woke up hearing cries of nurse, son Jehangir
Saif Ali Khan reportedly told the police that though he tried to hold the attacker down, his grip loosened after he was stabbed.

A week after he was attacked inside his Bandra residence, actor Saif Ali Khan told the Mumbai police on Thursday that he and his wife Kareena Kapoor Khan woke up after hearing the cries of one of their staff nurses and their younger son Jehangir. The police recorded Saif’s statement a day after he was discharged from the hospital.
Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad, a 30-year-old man of Bangladeshi origin, has been arrested for allegedly stabbing Saif on January 16.
In his statement, Saif reportedly told the police that he and Kareena came out of the bedroom on hearing staff nurse Eliyamma Philip crying, following which he confronted the intruder.
A police officer said that Saif said he tried to hold the intruder down. The accused, however, stabbed him several times due to which his grip loosened. This allowed him to escape, Saif reportedly told the police.
The police further claimed that preliminary reports suggested that the fingerprints found from the actor’s residence matched Shahzad’s. The accused, who was sent to police custody for five days, will be presented before the court on Friday.
Saif had suffered several injuries in the attack and underwent a series of surgeries at Lilavati Hospital in Bandra.
