While the young voters between age group of 18 to 29 has shown an increase of around 1%, the voter percentage from age 40 to 80+ has shown a decrease of 3 per cent when compared to draft electoral roll.
“A special summary revision programme and door-to-door survey campaign were conducted in the state for updating the electoral rolls in view of the upcoming parliamentary and assembly elections in the state. The percentage of new electors in the final electoral rolls has increased significantly due to the campaigns conducted in this Program,” said Shrikant Deshpande, Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra.
The programme was launched on October 27, 2023, by publishing Draft Electoral Roll on the website of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and at Electoral Registration Officers Offices. This programme was conducted till January 23, 2024.
The names of 24,33,766 electors were registered or added in the Draft Electoral Roll of October 2023 under this programme. Also 20,21,350 electors were deleted.
“Therefore, by net addition of 4,12,416 electors, the total number of electors in the Final Electoral Roll became 9,12,44,679,” he said.
There is a net increase of 1,01,869 male electors, 3,08,306 female electors and 572 third gender electors. The male-female Ratio in the Electoral Roll has increased from 917 to 922.

In this revision programme, 6,70,302 new electors were added in the age group of 18 to 19 years, and 8,33,496 electors were added in the age group of 20 to 29 years.

While the number of electors in the 20 to 29 years age group in the Draft Electoral Roll was 1,55,11,376 (17.8 percent), it has increased to 1,63,44,872 (17.91 percent) in the Final Electoral Roll.
When compared to draft electoral roll, the voter percentage of age group from 40 to 80+ has shown a decrease of 3 per cent in the final electoral roll.
A total of 11,60,696 dead electors were deleted from the Electoral Roll. Out of them, 4,92,395 electors were above the age of eighty. Similarly, 9,05,559 electors with similar photographs (Photo Similar Entries PSEs) were found in the Electoral Rolls.
“After a thorough scrutiny, the names of 2,84,620 electors were deleted,” Deshpande said. Also, 2,54,460 electors with similar names and some other details (Demographically Similar Entries – DSE) were found in the Electoral Roll.
Out of them, 74,426 names of electors have been deleted after their thorough scrutiny.
With final electoral roll published on the website of the Chief Election Officer’s office and the Collector’s offices and at the Electoral Registration Officer’s offices, Deshpande said that the electors should check their name in the electoral roll by visiting the website ‘Voter Service Portal’ (https://electoralsearch.eci.gov.in/) and check if all the details are correct.
The citizens whose names are not in the electoral roll should fill the application in form number 6 to ensure their right to vote, Deshpande said.
