Tagore in Hindi
Celebratiang the long and colourful history of Hindi theatre in Mumbai,the NCPA presents Ananda: Hindi Natya Utsav. The selection of plays chosen to be staged during the Hindi theatre festival transcend generations and genres,with one by Imran Rasheed and Pawan Uttams young group,Rangbaaz,one by the Indian Peoples Theatre Association (IPTA),the oldest theatre group in India,and a third by Om Katares group,Yatri. This evening the IPTA presents Kabuliwala Laut Aaya,a play about a homesick Afghani and his friendship with a little girl in Kolkata,based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore. On Sunday,Yatri presents Raavanleela,a comical and chaotic story of a small town Ramleela turning into a Raavanleela.

Telling Tails
In a special event for children,Animal Angels Foundation and Crossword book store present Tails Of Joy,an animal assisted reading workshop. Using a process that has proved beneficial time and again,the children will be encouraged to read aloud to trained therapy dogs as their four-legged companions listen attentively.

A musical summer
If singing or playing an instrument is what interests your children,Chin2 Bhosles 10-day musical summer camp is where you will want to enrol them. A member of Indias first-ever boy band,A Band of Boys,Bhosle has organised this camp to teach the young ones everything they need to know to make music. The fees for these classes is Rs 2,000.

Flavours of Rajasthan
For a taste of some authentic Rajasthani food,head to the Westin Mumbai Garden City and treat yourself at the Rajasthani food festival,Mharo Rajasthan,on at their restaurant Kangan. Amongst the traditional delicacies on offer are dal bhati aur choorma,machli marwar,laal maas,malpua and jalebi rabdi. There will also be Rajasthani folk music to serenade guests.

Japanese magic
This weekend,the Taj Enlighten Film Society will screen two films by two very well known and well-respected Japanese directors. First up is Seven Samurai,a 1955 film by Akira Kurosawa,to be screened at Metro Big Cinemas,Dhobi Talao. Following that is One Missed Call,a 2003 horror film by Takashi Miike,and this will be screened at Cinemax,Versova.
