Opp will take its battle against CM Eknath Shinde govt to the streets: LoP

The opposition has threatened to take the battle against the Eknath Shinde-led coalition government to the streets to highlight the plight of farmers, labourers, unemployment of youths and inflation. With the monsoon session coming to end, the opposition expressed its disappointment over CM’s failure to address the problems of the people.

Leader of Opposition Vijay Waddetiwar told the media on Friday, “The monsoon session may have come to an end today. But our battle against the government for ignoring the real and larger issues related to farmers, daily wagers, unemployment and inflation will continue on the streets.”

He also expressed disappointment with Shinde’s response to the opposition’s proposal last week, arguing, “CM dedicated his entire time attacking Matoshree (Shiv Sena UBT leader Uddhav Thackeray), whereas, important subjects we raised remained unanswered.”

Adding that rain and floods played havoc in several parts of the state and the opposition had demanded that a wet drought be declared. “It would have helped provide immediate relief to the farmers reeling following crop loss. But our demand went unheeded. The state government showed total apathy towards the agriculture crisis,” Wadettiwar said.
