One more held in Saki Naka double murder case

The Saki Naka police,investigating the murder of two brothers on May 29,have arrested the fifth accused in the case.

Sunil Sharma,39,the main accused,was remanded in police custody till June 8 after being produced in a metropolitan court. According to police,Sharma was arrested from near his Saki Naka residence on Saturday. Police said Sharma has at least three previous cases of assault registered against him. Police also said that the sixth accused,Rajesh Sharma,40,is still wanted in the case.

Earlier,police arrested Sharma’s wife and his two brother-in-laws from different places. “The sixth accused Rajesh has been absconding since the day of murder. We are tracing him and we have information that he has not left the city,”

S Dhanedar,senior inspector,Saki Naka police said.

The murders took place late on Tuesday when six members of a family,including a woman,barged into Jeetender Singh’s residence at Veer Savarkar Nagar,Andheri (west) and attacked his two sons,Avinash and Ashish,with choppers. Singh was also assaulted,but he survived while his sons succumbed to their injuries.

“One of the accused,Brijesh Rai,26,has a murder charge registered against him,while the others are charged with several cases of body offences,” Dhanedar said.
