One more bus service on sea link from today

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport has decided to operate one more bus service on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link from December 31.

The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has decided to operate one more bus service on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL) from December 31.

According to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport, the new bus—route no Express 33—will ply between Goregaon station and Opera House. “It would help commuters reach their destination soon,” said Dilip Patel, chairman,BEST.

The bus will be part of the Express (speed) fleet. According to a policy put forth by the committee members, Express buses will ply only on flyovers and the sea link to help commuters reach their destination faster. The members had also proposed a hike in Express bus fare, but a decision on this has not been taken so far.

After much delay owing to a fight between the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and the BEST,the latter had started its first service on BWSL between Nehru Planetarium and Kashimira (Mira Road) early this month. Both the bodies agreed to pay Rs 3000 as toll.

Meanwhile, the BEST has decided to start a new bus service from Goregoan depot to Mulund. “This would help decongest the traffic on this route and also will improve the East-West connectivity,” said Patel.

It is to be noted that except the BEST services, there is no transport system to connect eastern and western suburbs.
