MU’s B Ed students await results 265 days after semester exams
Amol Matele from NCP Students’ wing has written to the Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University Dr. Ravindra Kulkarni demanding to declare the result soon.

In an unprecedented delay, Mumbai University’s Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) students are waiting for their result for over 265 days from the completion of their exam. These students are now expected to appear for their semester IV exam when results of Semester II and III are awaited. As per the rules, results should be out within 45 days from the exam.
However, examination glitches and delays in results have been a regular issue at the Mumbai University.
Students’ unions are, however, pointing out that such a delay is absolutely “unprecedented” and it is more shocking that it remained unnoticed for so long.
There are over 5,000 students who are affected due to this delay. Their semester II exam was held in November 2022. Whereas semester III exam was held in March 2023. “This is almost nine months since their Semester II exam and five months since their semester III exam. But the result is yet undeclared. And there is no clarity on their Semester IV exam. This is appalling,” said Amol Matele from NCP Students’ wing adding that it is unbelievable that semester III exam was held without knowing the result of Semester II.
Matele has written to the Vice-Chancellor of Mumbai University Dr. Ravindra Kulkarni demanding to declare the result soon.
Additionally, Mumbai University and College Teachers Association (MUCTA) has written a complaint letter to the Governor of Maharashtra Ramesh Bais, seeking intervention in his capacity as Chancellor to all state universities.
Stating that this is a gross violation of the Maharashtra Public Universities Act 2016, MUCTA Secretary Dr. Subhash Athavle, in the letter, said, “We understand that there have been some challenges in processing the results this year, but that is no excuse for the delay. The vice -chancellor has had more than enough time to get the results out, and he has failed to do so. This is unacceptable, and it is a clear sign that he is not fit to be in his position.”
The Governor, in his capacity as the Chancellor, had reprimanded all state universities in May 2023 that VCs will be held responsible in case of delays in result declarations. Without divulging the reasons for the delay, an official from the Mumbai University’s examination section, said, “The assessment is completed and we will declare the results soon.”
