Mumbai: Two booked for sexual assault and abuse in Wadala, police file swift chargesheets

The Mumbai Police on Sunday booked two persons for allegedly sexually assaulting and abusing a 34-year-old woman in Wadala. The police claim to have completed the investigation in the case and also submitted a chargesheet within 24 hours of the registration of the case.

According to police officials, the complainant and the two accused live nearby. While their children were playing together in the vicinity, there was an altercation between them, and subsequently, their parents got involved in the matter.

“There was a confrontation between the parents of both the children, during which the two accused allegedly abused another female parent, which outraged the modesty of the woman. Also, one of the two accused went from behind and groped her, following which the matter was reported at the police station,” an officer said.

The officials also said the complainant’s husband was also assaulted in the incident.

The police then registered a case under relevant sections of assault, molestation, and criminal intimidation. The two accused were served notices and allowed to go.

Subsequently, the Wadala TT police recorded the statements of the complainant and two witnesses, who were present at the spot and submitted a chargesheet before the court on Monday.
