Maharashtra Mumbai Rains Live Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Thursday issued an ‘orange’ alert for Mumbai, with the city likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall today. Meanwhile, a red alert has been sounded in Raigad and Ratnagiri districts for the next two days. In the past 24 hours, the heaviest rainfall was recorded in the eastern suburbs, at an average of 48 mm, followed by 41 mm rain in the western suburbs and 33 mm rain in the island city division.

Alongside the likelihood of torrential downpour, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has warned of high tides for the next four days between Thursday (July 24) to Sunday (July 27). At a height of 4.67 m, the largest waves in the sea are expected on July 26. According to the BMC, on Thursday, the height of waves is expected to touch 4.57 metres, followed by 4.66 metres-high waves on Friday. Meanwhile, on Saturday, waves upto 4.67 metres are expected while on Sunday, the BMC has warned of high tides upto 4.60 metres.

Amid heavy showers, at least seven cases of partial house collapses have been reported in the city in the past 24 hours ending at 8.00 am on Thursday. At least 25 cases of tree collapses have also been reported in Mumbai during the same period, according to the BMC. Meanwhile, 12 cases of short circuit have also been reported in Mumbai.
